If there’s ever a good reason to go somewhere by rail, it’s to visit a pub for a spot of dinner. Since Pink Puppy Echo had some discount vouchers for a gastro-pub right next to the station, we took a trip to Shawford station on a cold October evening. This was a perfect opportunity to tag a station east of Southampton Central – an area that was sadly lacking at the time. Upon arrival we hunted for a well lit sign, as the sun had well and truly set by this point and grabbed our photo. We then went to indulge in a very, very nice meal. The benefits of travel by public transport is there is no need for a designated driver, which mean Echo was able to enjoy a pint of cider with his meal, while I tackled a swift ale. Once we had eaten our fill, we got the train home. A very pleasing evening out which would not have been quite as pleasant had Echo had to drive.
