Canary Wharf (DLR)

One of the great things about the DLR is that it’s an automated light railway system. This means that when you get on board, you’re trusting a computer to keep you alive. This means that each train is driven by an electronic brain, rather than the organic one in the head of a driver. Where am I going with this, you wonder… Well, if the driver is a machine, then it doesn’t need a seat at the front of the train – which gives the passengers a chance to ride at the front and pretend they’re driving.

Shades and I did not get those seats. We did, however, get to enjoy a merry trek to Canary Wharf’s DLR station, which was rather nice, with some interesting platform arrangements. Also meant that we could nip through trains to move to other platforms instead of taking a bridge or subway. Quite the novel experience. Our target was the Pride “roundel” (not sure it counts as a roundel when there’s one ON the sign rather than being one), and it was nice and easy to spot. What was harder was finding a good position to pup it without everything being obliterated by lighting. Those signs are quite reflective. However, we soon got our photos done and were then ready to move on to our next destination – Dinner! However, our night of Pride Pupping hadn’t finished yet…
