London Pride 2022! The first London Pride since the pandemic caused lockdowns throughout the UK, and also the 50th anniversary of Pride in London. At first I wasn’t going to go as I couldn’t get time off work around the Pride area, but then a day became available, and there was still spaces left, so with everything aligning, I grabbed a spot. Glad I did as well, as it was a fantastic day. Unlike usual Pride events, it was all done in a single day, rather than staying overnight in London. The plan was originally going to be to stay with Shades, but the pandemic put paid to that when both I and Shades got ill with it. I was lucky enough to start testing negative a few days beforehand, so was clear to take part, but sadly Shades was still testing positive until the Sunday. So Echo drove both myself and Nyxen up to Woking, whereupon we parked up and grabbed a train to Clapham Junction. From there the plan was to change to the Overground and arrive at the meeting spot. Simples. Or, at least it would have been if Clapham Junction was at all user friendly, and we had to exit the gateline, turn around and re-enter using the debit card touch-in in order to transfer to the Overground. Other than that, it was a reasonably simple transition. Finding that Platforms 1 and 2 were the Overground platforms, we boarded our train and headed for Clapham High Street.
