Haven Street? Havenstreet? No matter, it’s been visited. The plan of the adventure around the Isle of Wight had originally been to use Havenstreet as the base and travel out from there, but the timetable of the mainline made this impracticable. So we turned up in the car and promptly found an empty platform. Not to worry, Havenstreet has a webcam. Cue some messages on Telegram to a pup who was online and on a computer to capture a shot of us both in front of the Havenstreet webcam. With that mission accomplished, we headed to a reasonably quiet spot where we could grab the photo for Pup All The Stations before hunting down a nice cold soft drink. Our train arrived shortly after hauled by Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST WD198 “Royal Engineer”. We boarded our train, only to see O2 class 24 “Calbourne” coming in the other direction. Too late, we’d picked our train and were heading east towards the interchange station with the Island Line… Smallbrook Junction.
