Stop four on our tour of the Island of White’s railway network and Echo and I found ourselves at Sandown station. A proper big station, with more than one platform. Such upgrades. This meant we had found a passing place. A rare beast so far on our journey. Sadly, after all the delights of Brading, this station didn’t really measure up. We had been spoiled by skipping ahead, and Sandown was punishing us by being all ordinary and normal. We didn’t stick around for too long as the turn around for our train back north wasn’t very long and we just about had a chance to grab the photos and enjoy a spot of sunlight before it was time to go into the bouncy seats of delightfully ancient tube stock once more. We then got back off the train at Brading to jump in the car. Next stop: The steam railway!
