Ashey (Heritage)

While riding the train back from Wootton, I spotted Ashey on the list of stations. After spotting it was a request stop, I pointed it out to Echo as we could get on the last return trip and therefore pup all the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. He was hesitant to visit because the timetable didn’t leave enough time to visit the classic car exhibition (the reason we had gone to the railway in the first place). So, I made a note to come back to the island and visit the station another day. Once back at Havenstreet we went and had a look at the cars. To me, it seemed a whole field filled with them was rather a lot of cars, however Echo thought that the display was quite small. Either way, we had managed to walk around and take a nose at all there was to offer in just enough time to catch the last round trip. So we had a quick chat with the guard to request Ashey and jumped on board.

The station was a nice little halt, with some greenery around and the start of some tempting looking walks. Looking over the track from the station we saw the former station building which had been converted into a private residence. Lucky person who lives there, being so close to all the steam trains all day. The only downside with Ashey is that it isn’t timetabled on the railway’s flyers, so we had to stick close to the station in order to make sure we didn’t miss the last train back to the car. As I was filming, I let Echo flag the train down again (just like at Dilton Marsh) once it turned up and we headed back to the car. All stations on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway pupped, and another line complete. It was now time to finish off the Island Line.
