This station was fun. Yes, we had to drive there due to the distance and terrible timings for trains, but it was worth it. This was station 100 for the Pup All The Stations blog. I admit I was saving it for station 100, because a name like Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch demands to be kept as something special. So with Echo driving and myself and Hedgie refreshing him on how to say the long name, we made our way there. Once at the car park we took in the sights of the station building and the shopping centre at the other end of the car park. We then set foot onto the platform.
Just as we stepped on to the station a bus load of Asian tourists swarmed in – all just as eager to see and photograph the sign as we were. We patiently waited for them to get their photos before shooing them out of the way long enough to take ours. Hedgie was armed with the camera as Echo and I unfurled the Puppy Pride flag, and we claimed the station in the name of Puppy kind. However, a pup can not fly a flag in the presence of tourists and not expect attention, so not only did Hedgie get some photos, but so did all the bus party. We spent a while posing with the flag for them, before putting the flag away and posing with members of their party. It was like being at a Pride event.
All good things must come to an end, sadly, and so we went SHOPPING! You can’t expect us to not act like tourists ourselves – and we had LLanfairpwll merch to buy. Once sated we headed back to the car… Only to spend too long preparing to film some footage for TigerTails Radio and draining the car’s battery. A quick trek to a local garage (well, dealership and MOT centre) and they used a jump-pack to get the car going again. An interesting diversion and a mini adventure in itself. With the car charging, I got some B-Roll footage on the station, we did a piece to camera, and then headed back to base.
