Dawlish

Sometimes stations are captured for Pup All The Stations because there was a pub trip involved. Sometimes they are captured as we just happened to be in the area, and sometimes they are captured on a pure whim. While being signed off work with sciatica, I was in a situation where I was told I had to keep active and not sit still for too long. Since the day job involved a lot of sitting, I was told to go out and about a lot instead. So when Hedgie suggested a day trip to Dawlish late on a Wednesday evening, I saw it as the perfect chance to obey doctor’s orders and jumped at the chance. We had holidayed in Dawlish before, using it as a base to journey around South Devon, but this year a Wales trip had been planned instead and Hedgie needed his Dawlish fix. So we investigated rail fares and found that getting a 2-Together railcard would reduce the cost down enough to make it worthwhile. The plan was set, we’d leave in the morning.
The morning was spent in a rush of getting the railcard organised and tickets purchased but soon we were on the train to Dawlish, changing at Salisbury. Once we arrived, we grabbed photos for #PupAllTheStations on Twitter before going for a walk around the town to see what had changed since our last visit. Not much was the answer. We took some nice pup photos around the place (accidentally uploading one of them to Google’s review page for Gay’s Creamery) and enjoyed a nice cream tea before deciding to take the walk along the sea wall to the site of our next station…
