Dawlish Warren

As part of our great Dawlish Day Trip, myself and Hedgie walked along the sea wall from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren. It’s a lovely walk during nice weather, with the sea lapping at your feet when the tide’s in. It’s impassable in less favourable weather as the waves crash against the wall and spray over the footpath and the railway line during rough seas, threatening to wash any brave/stupid walkers out to sea. There are plenty of YouTube videos of trains getting a free wash from the sea in rough weather in the Dawlish area, which are well worth looking up. Once at Dawlish Warren we wanted to go and have a look at the amusements, however, most of them seemed shut. We figured as we had arrived at around 5pm during the time before peak season was due to start that we had missed most festivities. The go-kart track was opened, but had so few people looking to use it, we decided to not bother. Instead we pupped the station before heading to arcade for some video game fun and a spot of food before walking back to Dawlish to get the train home. A good day out had been achieved, even if I was so heavily medicated so I could use my leg that I could only enjoy lemonades and other such drinks. I look forward to returning to capture the other stations between Exeter and Kingswere. Something to make another holiday of, perhaps?
