Wareham

The final stop on our tour of the South Western Main Line was Wareham. A station which now connects to the preserved Swanage Railway for selected rail tours and special days. Hedgie and I got off the train and had a quick explore to find a nice sign. We found one with ease and got our photos, we then had a look at the nature reserve installed in the track bed of a now disused platform. An interesting idea that gives back to nature. We then did the usual trick of picking a direction and going for a walk. Unlike previous locations on this adventure, this walk was far more urban taking us through a business park instead of the rural streets we were expecting. We then ambled back to the station, taking advantage of a foot level crossing to cross the tracks to the correct platform instead of going over the footbridge. Within a few minutes of getting back to the station, our train arrived and we enjoyed the journey home. Or at least that was the plan, but the station collecting wasn’t quite over yet…
