Hersham

As the train stopped at one of the calling points following the visit to Surbiton, Shades and I talked about visiting other stations on the route. Shades thought we would be doing them all, whereas I had not realised he was under that impression. So Esther ended up being skipped and instead we disembarked the train at Hersham. Finding a small and somewhat dilapidated station, we found a sign before going for a walk to kill the time until our next train. 30 mins to use, so we took a walk down the steps (noting the lack of step-free access) and landed on the main road through the village. Going right would take us under the bridge and towards a small parade of shops with some houses, and going left was down a long road lined with houses. As this was the most mysterious, we chose to walk for about 10 mins down the road before heading back to the station to catch the train. Hersham was very much a commuter village; a land where you need a car to survive as it seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, but had a golf course and a recreation ground. Didn’t even see a local pub. Pondering on if we should have gone in the other direction instead, we got back to the station and headed off to tick off one more station before we got back to base.
